Abhyangam

It can be applied to the whole body or locally. Many of the prevalent modern massage techniques are the modified forms of Abhyanga. These are developed from Keraleeya Kalari Chikitsa, Kathakali massage and martial arts.
Njavarakizhi
Njavara kizhi or Rejuvenating pouch massage or SPS in short is a type of pouch massage with rejuvenating grain cooked in milk and herbal processed milk. Sirovasthi
Some herbal oils that are lukewarm are poured into a cap fixed on the head for about 20 to 60 minutes each day as per patients conditions. This treatment is for dryness of nostrils, facial paralysis, mouth and throat, vatha-originated diseases and severe headaches.
Elakizhi
Small bags that contain herbal leaves are applied to the whole body with hot medicated oils for around 40-45 minutes per day. This is for osteoarthritis, spondylosis and other sports injuries.
Kativasthi
Here warm medicated oil which is specifically prepared is kept over the low back with borders made of some herbal pastes. This treatment lasts usually for 30-45 minutes. This is for lumbago, low back pain, disc prolapse and degenerative vertebral diseases.
Uzhichil or Abhyanga (Oil Massage)
Focus area – Overall body
Ayurveda states this therapy as one to be done as a daily ritual, and we agree! Uzhichil, also known as Abhyanga, is a special and an extremely beneficial oil massage, where large quantities of oil infused with herbs (chosen specifically to treat the person’s condition) are used to carry out a deep massage, done by one or even two masseurs. The benefits of the herbs are spread throughout the body during the massage, and are absorbed by the skin, while the powerful strokes stimulate the body’s blood and lymphatic circulation, which in turn delivers the benefits of the active ingredients in the herbs to all the desired areas of the body. No wonder it is recommended to be done daily!
